The Israeli Privacy Protection Authority (PPA) published a draft directive recently to clarify its position about how businesses and organizations should apply the provisions of the Privacy Protection Law and the privacy regulations to artificial intelligence systems.

Earlier this month, the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) issued draft guidelines on the processing of personal data through blockchain technologies.

Developed for over two years, the American Privacy Rights Act proposes establishing a nationwide standard for privacy and data security, to empower individuals to control their personal information, as part of their right to privacy.

Employers that want to use technological surveillance measures to monitor and track employee performance remotely must be diligent about formulating a clear policy, informing employees, and using these means reasonably and proportionately.

E-commerce giant Amazon reported in its financial statements at the end of last month that the Luxembourg data protection authority had imposed on it a fine totaling EUR 746 million. The fine appears to have been laid on Amazon for its use of users’ personal data for targeted advertising, in violation of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

California recently passed a sweeping consumer privacy law that significantly increases the protection provided to people whose personal information is being collected.
