Together is powerful

Increasing Privacy Protection Enforcement

Over the last few days, the Privacy Protection Authority has begun sending in-depth questionnaires to various business entities for the purpose of examining these entities’ compliance with the Privacy Protection Regulations (Data Security) that came into effect on May 8, 2018.

According to the Privacy Protection Authority’s announcements, it will be conducting a detailed audit of about 150 entities by the end of 2018.

The questionnaires are comprehensive, and the deadline given for responding to them does not enable companies that failed to take action to ensure compliance in a timely manner to now make all necessary adjustments in order to demonstrate compliance. Consequently, any company that receives a questionnaire and is not complying with the regulations is exposed and will have exposed its officers to various sanctions by virtue of the Privacy Protection Law.

It is important to note that an amendment to the Privacy Protection Law is currently being promoted that will substantially increase the pecuniary sanctions on companies that fail to comply with the provisions of the law and the recent regulation.
