NPOs
Our firm specializes in providing legal support and advice to nonprofit organizations (NPOs) engaged in “third sector” activities. This includes representing some of Israel’s most prominent associations, philanthropic foundations, public benefit companies (PBCs), and public and private endowments.
Our clients include long-established and leading NPOs, advancing a wide range of social initiatives in the fields of education, community, welfare, culture, and more.
We provide comprehensive legal counsel throughout every stage of an organization’s lifecycle – from formation and registration, through the establishment of operations and ongoing management, to strategic growth and the resolution of complex legal issues. Our team has extensive experience advising NPOs on an ongoing basis, including regulatory and corporate governance matters, contractual engagements with various entities (including donors, other organizations and authorities), and representation before government ministries and philanthropic foundations to obtain budgets, grants, and support, while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements applicable to NPOs.
Our firm represents NPOs before the relevant authorities, including the Registrar of Associations, the Registrar of Endowments, and the Israel Tax Authority, and assists in obtaining certificates of proper management and accreditation as public institutions (Section 46 of the Income Tax Ordinance) for the purpose of recognizing donations in accordance with applicable tax laws.
As part of our ongoing legal representation, we advise and assist NPOs in audit and enforcement proceedings, corrective processes, and voluntary or court-ordered liquidation proceedings.
