In the past, ESG matters were primarily handled by accounting firms and external consultants. However, in recent years, leading law firms in Israel have begun establishing dedicated ESG departments or integrating ESG advisory services into existing practice areas such as corporate law, regulation, and environmental law. This shift has been driven, among other factors, by increasing regulatory demands from the Bank of Israel, the Israel Securities Authority, and the Capital Market Authority. Now, with Trump's return to the White House and his new policy direction, is the status of ESG set to change? An interview with our firm's Dr. Zvi Gabbay in Globes.

Recently, in an effort to intensify the fight against international crime, the Knesset passed an amendment to the Legal Assistance Between States Law, 1998, which expands authorities' powers to confiscate assets located in Israel belonging to individuals against whom criminal proceedings have been opened in foreign countries. This amendment raises critical legal dilemmas and questions regarding the rights of suspects and third parties. Adv. Shir Rozenzweig, who specializes in regulatory enforcement and white-collar crime, addresses these issues and more.

Our firm is advising Azrieli Group on the development of the Spiral Tower, a building currently under construction and located east of Menachem Begin Road, in Tel Aviv’s northern business district. The group has obtained a permit to build a mixed-use skyscraper of up to 91 stories (approximately 350 meters tall), including a seven-level underground parking facility with about 1,150 spaces. The project allows for the construction of 148,000 square meters of commercial, hotel, and residential space. At the tower’s base, a 13,000-square-meter shopping mall is planned as an extension of the existing Azrieli Center Mall. 

Dr. Zvi Gabbay, head of our firm's Regulation Department, has been invited to join an expert panel on "Best Practices for Fintech Implementation and Operations" at the Fintech Tel Aviv 2025 Annual Summit. Startups, investors, and companies are invited to this unique fintech event. 

Adv. Hagit Ben Moshe, partner and head of the firm's Kibbutz Sector Department, was invited to speak at the national conference on Renewable Energy Projects 2025 for kibbutzim and moshavim. The conference was held by the Training Center for Renewal, in collaboration with the Kibbutz Movement and the Moshav Movement. Hagit moderated a panel on the legal aspects of agreements with entrepreneurs in the energy sector.

The Dun's 100 Forum for Senior Legal Professionals in the Real Estate and Urban Renewal Sector convened to discuss the challenges and opportunities for 2025. Adv. Alon Abcasis, a partner and head of the firm's Residential Real Estate and Urban Renewal Department, addressed the impact of the Gaza war on the Israeli real estate industry in 2024 and what is next to come in 2025.

Adv. Omri Oren,  a partner in the firm's Finance and Public Corporations Department, along with Advs. Raz Landau and Batel Torangi, advised Mediterranean Towers Ltd Group on the issuance of a new series of bonds amounting to approximately ILS 200 million. The company received strong demand during the institutional offering phase, with demand reaching approximately ILS 684 million. 

Adv. Dr. Zvi Gabbay, head of the firm's Regulation Department, was interviewed yesterday on Channel 10, Israel's business news channel, discussing President Trump's decision to revoke the enforcement of the law against bribery payments to foreign governments worldwide. He explained how this decision also affects Israeli companies in the market.

Adv. Irit Brodsky, a partner in our Competition and Antitrust Department, was a featured speaker on the Dun's 100 podcast, where she discussed key issues in competition law, including interactions with competitors, relationships with suppliers and customers, and essential considerations in M&A transactions.

As part of our collaboration with the AtoBe Accelerator at the Jerusalem College of Technology, which supports tech ventures, we hosted a workshop yesterday for young entrepreneurs. Adv. Yuval Lazi, head of the International Commercial Department, shared his expertise with the entrepreneurs in an engaging lecture. It’s a pleasure to be part of making dreams come true!

Since the beginning of 2024, out of eight companies that conducted an initial public offering (IPO) on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, six had previously raised debt through bonds. Adv. Our firm represented Vaalon Capital, through its SPV IWS, in the sale of its entire stake in Prodalim to Israel Corporation, the country’s leading publicly traded holding company, in a transaction valued at $72 million. The sale was part of an initial investment and two secondary transactions, through which Israel Corporation acquired a significant minority stake (~27%) for a total consideration of $116 million.
