Barnea Represents Client in Landmark Appeal Concerning Fundamental Issues of Securities and Tort Law
Barnea’s litigation team represented a client before the Supreme Court in a landmark appeal concerning fundamental obligations under Israeli securities and tort law. The Supreme Court overturned the District Court’s rulings and accepted the firm’s position that no duty of care exists between shareholders found jointly liable for violations of securities law.

Hana Gertler to Testify in Whitewater Holdings Trial
At the request of Canadian businessman Edwin (Benni) Tisch, businesswoman and Whitewater Holdings co-founder Hanna Gertler will testify in the Whitewater trial, following a ruling by Justice Ruth Ronen of the Tel Aviv District Court (Economic Department). Tisch alleges that Whitewater and Yogev made false representations and acted fraudulently, inducing him to invest millions in Whitewater Holdings. The company is in receivership and owes creditors approximately ILS 19 million. To read more, click here.

Former Kibbutz Shefayim Treasurer and Wife Convicted of Stealing ILS 16.5 Million
Adv. Zohar Lande, head of our Litigation Department, issued a statement on behalf of the kibbutz: “We respectfully acknowledge the Court’s verdict. Sadly, this affair has deeply affected the kibbutz’s social fabric over the past decade. Since Doron’s embezzlement came to light, we have worked within the kibbutz community and through the judicial system to recover the stolen funds. The kibbutz will continue to foster solidarity among its members. We hope today’s verdict will allow them to return with renewed enthusiasm to their productive and creative daily lives.”

Former Kibbutz Shefayim Treasurer Sentenced to 8.5 Years in Prison
The former treasurer of Kibbutz Shefayim and his wife were convicted of stealing ILS 16.5 million from the kibbutz and sentenced to 8.5 years in prison. Kibbutz members remain hopeful that Adv. Zohar Lande will recover funds they believe the family is still concealing.

Espresso Club Sues Strauss
Leading coffee company Espresso Club is seeking ILS 7 million from Strauss after Strauss withdrew from a proposed acquisition of the company. Represented by Adv. Zohar Landa and Adv. Shai Sharvit of Barnea Law Offices, Espresso Club alleges that Strauss conducted an extensive four-month due diligence review of the company and its business. According to the claim, confidential information provided to Strauss during that process was disclosed to Espresso Club’s main supplier.

ICC Group Sued by Administrator General
The Administrator General filed an ILS 150 million lawsuit against the ICC Group, alleging that the trustees acted with gross negligence in cancelling the loss-of-profits insurance policy. The group is represented by Adv. Zohar Lande, Adv. Shai Sharvit, Adv. Itay Wigoda, and Adv. Levi Metchnik.
