Adv. Micky Barnea was featured in a follow-up article in Globes about the Income Tax Authority's new circular that changes the tax policy relating to capital-based compensation dependent on performance. According to Barnea, "The new circular stipulates that options allocated under an approved plan, submitted lawfully to the Tax Authority, may be discovered on judgment day as not being entitled to reduced capital taxation."

Adv. Daniel Lorber, the head of our firm's Equity Incentives practice field, was interviewed by Globes on the Israel Tax Authority's latest decision. Instead of a capital gains tax rate of 25% on options granted to employees for exercise in the event of an exit or issue, the proceeds from such exercise will now be considered labor income, and therefore the tax liability may rise to 50%.

Advs. Zohar Lande, Eyal Nachshon, and Omer Keydar of Barnea's Litigation Department represented Azrieli Group in a class action suit for not displaying a price per unit of measure for certain products on its e-commerce website. A settlement was reached in the suit.

Adv. Liat Keisary lectured today as part of a training course at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya for the executives of family companies. She discussed inheritance, wills, and legal incompetence.

We hosted today a delegation of French startup companies from the life sciences and medtech sectors. The delegation was organized by the Embassy of France and visited Israel to learn about the local life sciences scene. During the event, Adv. Ariella Dreyfuss discussed the Israeli medtech ecosystem and the legal challenges companies should be aware of.

Barnea is representing the Chinese infrastructure company PMEC in its request to disqualify the winning bid in the tender for Highway 16. The company is being represented by Advs. Zohar Lande, Eyal Nachshon, and Shachar Rothschild from the Litigation Department.

Barnea and Friedman Kaplan hosted a workshop for participants from the Israel Hedge Funds Association. We gave a lecture entitled "International Enforcement: Being in Israel Does Not Keep the SEC Away."

Adv. Ariella Dreyfuss was invited to speak in China, as an expert in the high-tech scene, as part of a course on entrepreneurship, venture capital, and investment in startups. The course was organized by the University of Geneva for students of China's Tsinghua University.
